Sustainable Fashion!

Hi readers! Today we'll be talking about sustainable fashion! Enjoy!

What is sustainable fashion?:

Sustainable fashion is a growing movement that aims to minimize the environmental impact of the fashion industry while promoting ethical and responsible practices. It involves using eco-friendly materials like organic cotton and recycled polyester, ensuring fair wages and safe working conditions for garment workers, extending the lifespan of garments, and encouraging conscious consumption. By embracing sustainable fashion, the industry can move towards a more sustainable and environmentally friendly future.

Why is sustainable fashion good for the environment?:

Sustainable fashion helps reduce waste and conserve resources. Sustainable fashion also helps reduce the environmental impact of production, which is important because it helps preserve our planet's biodiversity and make sure our clothes last for years.

Facts on fashion and sustainable fashion:

1)On average, it takes about 2,000 gallons of water to produce one pair of jeans!

2)It can take more than 700 gallons of water to make a single T'shirt

3)Fashion production makes up 10% of humanity's carbon emissions, dries up water resources, and pollutes rivers and streams.

We are going to be writing about another way of sustainable fashion in our next post too! But, this post, we'll be writing about DIY natural dying!

DIY natural dyeing is when you experiment with natural dyes made from plants to give new life to old garments.

Here are some options for creating different colours of dye:

1)Red and pink: Fresh beets or powdered beetroot, pomegranates, red and pink rose petals, avocado pits

2)Orange: Carrots, turmeric, butternut seeds or husk

3)Yellow: Marigolds, sunflower petals, paprika, celery leaves, onion skins

4)Green: Spinach, mint leaves, lilacs, artichokes

5)Indigo: Purple cabbage, blueberries, blackberries, woad, black beans
